Cities in Alabama

The southeastern U.S. state of Alabama is home to some of the most iconic landmarks of the American Civil Rights Movement. In Birmingham, you can visit the 16th Street Baptist Church, which served as the headquarters of the protests during the 1960s. Alabaster

Alabaster is a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, located in Shelby County. It has a population of 33,284 as of the 2020 census. This makes Alabaster the 16th largest city in Alabama.

Huntsville

Huntsville, Alabama is a city in the U.S. state of Alabama. It is the county seat of Madison County and is the most populous city in the state. It is located in the Appalachian region of northern Alabama.

Athens

Located in northern Alabama, Athens is a mid-sized city with a population of approximately 28,643. It is 15 miles south of the Tennessee state line. Although historically dependent on agriculture, Athens has taken measures to modernize its economy in recent years. In 1973, it became the first city in Alabama to receive electricity from the Tennessee Valley Authority. In addition, the city became home to the first nuclear power plant in the United States. The Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant was completed in 1973 and was considered the largest nuclear power plant in the world at the time. The city has also benefitted from the expansion of the aerospace industry in neighboring Huntsville and Madison County.

Vestavia Hills

Vestavia Hills, Alabama is a small residential community that offers plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. The community is centered around Highway 31 and features upscale designer and casual chain eateries. The community also features parks and picnic areas, a swimming pool, and wooded walking trails along Little Shades Creek.

Chelsea

Chelsea, Alabama is a small city in Shelby County, Alabama. It is part of the Birmingham metro area. The city was incorporated in March 1996. In the 2010 census, the population of Chelsea was 14,982.

Florence Muscle Shoals

Florence Muscle Shoals, cities in Alabama, are located along the Tennessee River in northern Alabama. During the 2010 census, the population of Muscle Shoals was 13,146. In 2019, the estimated population is 14,575.

Mobile

Travelers can find plenty to do in Mobile cities in Alabama, including the USS Alabama battleship anchored in Battleship Memorial Park. You can also explore the history of the Mardi Gras festival at the Mobile Carnival Museum. There’s also the 1850 Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, complete with German stained glass. Moreover, the Mobile Museum of Art features works from artists around the world.
